Smart City AI Contest


Introduction

With the rapid advancement and widespread application of technology, the development of smart cities is receiving increasing attention. This Smart City Artificial Intelligence Contest encourages the submission of innovative solutions about databases, cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, aiming to promote the development of Hong Kong’s technological environment. Innovators, entrepreneurs, and academic institutions from all sectors are all welcome to take part in this competition, showcasing their creativity and technical prowess. Through innovative thinking and operational process improvement proposals, they can continuously enhance and apply various technologies with high feasibility strategies, contributing to Hong Kong’s advancement towards a smart city and enhancing the competitiveness and diversity of society.


The competition will officially start accepting registrations on April 5, 2025. Outstanding projects will have the opportunity to receive technical guidance and interact with industry experts. We look forward to participants bringing creative insights and practical solutions to contribute to Hong Kong’s development of a smart city and together moving towards a smart life. We welcome people from all walks of life to actively register and participate!


Details:

General Participation Requirements:

■ Participants should register according to the following categories:

Tertiary Institution Section: Currently enrolled full-time students in universities or tertiary education institutions, including newly admitted students.

Open Section: 18 years old or above, including part-time students.
Note: If the team is composed of both full-time students and non-students, they should opt for the open section.

Each team can consist of a maximum of 5 members.


Rules and Details of Registration:

■ The theme of the proposal should be related to the fields of databases, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and smart cities.

■ The proposal should be saved in .ppt or .pdf format upon submission. You may also feel free to provide a short video explaining the relevant details of your proposals/suggestions.

■ The deadline for registration and proposal submission is from April 5, 2025, to June 16, 2025

■ From June 17 to July 18, 2025, the judging panel will conduct preliminary screenings to shortlist 20 teams to advance to the final round.

■ Shortlisted teams must attend the mentoring session (for proposal improvement) on July 19, 2025.

■ Innovation and Creativity (15%)

■ The potential benefits and impacts brought to the community (35%)

■ The Potential/Efficiency of Implementation (30%)

■ Practicality and Impact (15%)

■ Presentation and delivery (5%)

Mentoring Session*

Each group will have 20 minutes, during which 5 expert mentors will provide guidance and insights on how to improve, refine and concretize their proposals and products.
